Tottori houses Japan’s one and only mini sand dune. It was one of my favorite experiences in the country.
Getting there is rather simple. Outside Tottori Station, there is a bus loop with a bus that rides around 10min. If you have never ridden a camel, you can ride one for a few minutes for ¥1300.

After treading through the sand dune with shoes full of sand, why not walk a few minutes over to The Sand Museum. Admission is only ¥600 per adult. Amazing sand sculptures by German sculptors await. Worth every penny.
